The fundraiser is calling on the global maritime community to walk, run, or cycle 100,000km to raise S$1 million for The Mission to Seafarers; EPS pledged S$250,000 to kick start the campaign which now has over S$700,000 committed

This year, from 2-22 February, participants across sea and shore will walk, run or cycle 100,000 km to raise S$1 million for a most deserving cause, The Mission to Seafarers – a global charity that provides essential support to the people who are the backbone of the maritime industry.

Participants who wish to contribute to the kilometre goal are asked to download the Strava app and join the official EPS Walk/Run Club and EPS Cycle Club.

Those looking to make a financial contribution can visit www.epshipping.com/eps-atw-2022 for instructions on how to transfer funds via Singapore (SGD) or the UK (Euro, GBP, USD). Those donating via Singapore can potentially double their contribution as the fundraiser has been approved by Singapore’s Tote Board – a government agency which administers grants. Tote Board will provide dollar-for-dollar matching for up to S$250,000 for donations made in the Lion City.

This year’s fundraiser will also honour the late Sammy Ofer KBE (1922-2011). Sammy Ofer was a shipping magnate, seafarer advocate, and philanthropist. He was recognised by his iconic goggle-like glasses but known for founding a closely-knit international shipping group. His contributions to the maritime industry and seafarer wellbeing have been felt for over three generations. February 22nd, 2022, is what would have been his 100th birthday. To commemorate his life and legacy, the fundraiser calls on the maritime community to walk, run and cycle 100,000km and raise funds to support seafarer wellbeing.
