After a 2 year hiatus, on Friday 28th October 2022, we were delighted to host our Mission to Seafarers Golf Day, this year taking place at Clandon Regis Golf Club. It was an incredible event, with perfect weather and a brilliant course enjoyable for all golfing abilities.
The event was sponsored and organised by leading asset management firm Hayfin Capital Management LLP and saw 14 teams come together to support MtS’ vital work for seafarers across the globe. The teams raised £14,000, with the proceeds going towards MtS’ seafarer welfare services that deliver genuine impact to the lives of crews from welfare to advocacy, mental health, and family support.
Special thanks goes to Hayfin’s Brian Nixon and the Hayfin Charity Committee who led the tournament, with teams from across the maritime industry battling to be the victor.
We would like to take a moment to thank Hayfin for sponsoring The Mission to Seafarers Golf Day. It was brilliant to see key executives including Andreas Povlen, Managing Director and Head of Hayfin’s Maritime team and Jeremy Dean, joining in the fun. Remarking on the day, Jeremy Dean said:
“The golf day provided the perfect setting for industry friends to get together, whilst raising money for a very worthwhile cause. With over 1,000 seafarers contracted to our own fleet of ships, we appreciate at first-hand the support provided by The Mission to Seafarers to the seafaring community around the world”.
The Very Revd. Andy Bowerman, previously Regional Director in the Middle East and South Asia for The Mission to Seafarers, now the Dean of Bradford Cathedral, gave a speech on the day saying:
“It was a wonderful day, the weather was kind and the course in fine condition. It was an honour to have the opportunity to be able to remind the players of the often difficult circumstances in which seafarers operate. Sharing stories of how the Mission to Seafarers is providing well-being support in ports across the globe.”
We are truly grateful for the efforts of everyone involved in raising £14,000 for seafarers’ welfare. Thank you all for your contributions.
